Obituary

Robert F. Hanson III, a man of great intellect and many talents, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday April 9, 2020, in his Duncannon home, at the age of 65.

Born November 1, 1954, in Harrisburg, he was a son of Barbara (Moore) Hanson, of New Port Richey, FL, and the late Robert F. Hanson Jr.  On May 22, 1987, he was united in marriage with Annette (Bolden) Hanson, with whom he has shared a devoted union of 33 years.

Bob had been employed by Cummins Power Systems, for 31 years, until this February.  A fascination with clock works led he and Annette to become the owners of Hanson’s Clock Repair.  Bob enjoyed throwing the frisbee with his loyal dog, Libby.  An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, he also loved watching NY Yankees baseball and playing slow pitch softball with the Diamond Dogs.  While Bob had many outside interests, the main focus of his life was his family – he loved his home and his woods in Perry County.  Bob attended Duncannon Church of God.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Annette and mother, Barbara; daughter Margaret Elizabeth Boyer, and her husband Paul, of Milton, FL; sons Benjamin Robert Hanson, and his wife Leah, of Chambersburg and Zachary Robert Fenwick Hanson, and his wife Katelyn, of Shermans Dale; and his grandchildren, Lolita Rose “Lola” Boyer and Nicholas Robert Hanson, who were the lights of his life.

Bob is also survived by his brother Ronald Hanson, and his wife Gayle, of Gaithersburg, MD and sister Lauree Sersch, and her husband James, of Middletown; his mother-in-law Lolita P. (McGuire) Bolden, sisters-in law Lorie A. Goss, and her husband Gary, and Donna R. Bostdorf, and her husband Todd, all of Duncannon; and many beloved nieces and nephews.  In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert L. Bolden.

A private service will be held at the Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with Pastor Dustin White, officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions being made to the Duncannon Youth Baseball Association, P.O. Box 93, Duncannon, PA 17020
